Full description
Isla Espíritu Santo shines like a jewel in the Sea of Cortez. Its turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs form a landscape unlike anything else in Mexico. Protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this island sits just off the coast of La Paz — wild, pristine, and utterly unforgettable.
Your day begins with a hotel pickup in central La Paz. After a quick check-in at the office, you walk to the pier where a sturdy 35-foot boat awaits, equipped with coolers, shade, and an onboard bathroom. The sea breeze greets you as you leave the bay behind.
The first stop is San Rafaelito. This is where the sea lions live. Playful and curious, they glide through the water and invite you in. You slip on your snorkel and join them — their sleek bodies twirling and darting just inches away. This encounter is available from September to May.
Next, the boat heads to El Corralito beach. The sand is soft and white. Coral reefs shimmer beneath the surface. Bright fish dart among the rocks — parrotfish, angelfish, the occasional sea turtle. You swim and snorkel in the gentle current, completely surrounded by color and light.
Lunch is served on board. Local fish ceviche, self-made ham and cheese sandwiches, and cold drinks refresh you mid-adventure. The flavors are simple, fresh, and perfectly matched to the setting.
Keep your eyes on the horizon. Dolphins leap in the distance. Depending on the season, whales or whale sharks may appear below the surface. Seabirds circle overhead. Every hour brings something
new.
The final stop is Playa Balandra. Famous across Mexico for its calm, shallow waters and iconic mushroom-shaped rock, this beach is the perfect way to close the day. Walk along the shore, take
photos, and take in a moment of pure stillness before the boat heads home.
The full tour lasts approximately 6 hours, with return to La Paz around 5:30 PM. Everything is included: snorkeling gear, wetsuit, life vest, bilingual guide, protected area permits, travel insurance, food, and drinks.
