The Malecón La Paz is a waterfront promenade in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, and for good reason. The malecón is a beautiful place to walk, jog, bike, or simply relax and enjoy the views of the Sea of Cortez. It is also lined with a variety of restaurants, shops, and cafes, making it a great place to people-watch and soak up the local atmosphere.

The malecón is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) long, and it starts at the Plaza Constitución in the city center and runs north to the Hotel del Mar. Along the way, you’ll see a number of interesting sculptures and monuments, including:

  • The “Jesús del Caracol” sculpture, which is made of seashells
  • The “La Reina de los Mares” sculpture, which depicts a woman with a throne and veil made of a seashell
  • The “Paloma” sculpture, which is a large white dove
  • The “El Viejo y el Mar” sculpture, which is a tribute to the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway
  • The “Vaquitas Marinas” sculpture, which is a reminder of the endangered vaquita marina porpoise
  • The “Mantarraya” sculpture, which is a large manta ray

The malecón is also a great place to watch the sunset. Every evening, as the sun goes down, the sky turns a beautiful array of colors, and the lights of the city start to twinkle. It’s a truly magical sight.
